The generally accepted thought is that the "25 cent trigger job" will smooth out the trigger pull but not actually make it lighter. The smoother pull gets rid of the "crunchy" (or "mushy") feel so on a low round count pistol it may feel lighter (with a more crisp break). If your pistol has 2000 rounds through it, you may not feel much difference.
What connector are you using and have you had the trigger pull measured?
The stock trigger in a Gen 5 is about 5-5.5 lbs. There are 3.5 and 4.5 connectors available. The NY trigger is 10 lbs.
A 4.5 connector is available. Look at Ghost Inc 4.5 lb connector.
***Beware that lighter pull can be a problem for defense carry. It is usually for competition shooters.
