I was in my 914, top off, on I-35 and a truck slightly ahead in the right lane shed a tire tread. It flew over my head but what felt like inches. I was shaking for a while after that. Now, I never drive next to a truck, except for a brief time to pass.
Mythbusters showed that a tire tread from a semi can decapitate a human.
