I was about 5, (now 77), the night light bulb in the baseboard receptacle had failed, so i replaced it with a snail, thinking the shell would glow nicely.
Well, the sparks and sizzeling, popped the fuse, scared the peewadding out of me and my sister and we ran into our parent's bed, crying.
Kinda ruined the snail's day too.
Spent 35 years as a general contractor, doing a lot of electrical work, but, no more snails.
