On January 13, 2026, Truck 4 responded to a call from Colorado Parks and Wildlife after an injured deer was found stranded on the ice at Curr Reservoir at the County Club of Colorado. The deer had fallen through but managed to pull itself out, leaving it exhausted and unable to move far from the break in the ice.

Our crew geared up in full ice-rescue equipment and made their way onto the frozen surface. The deer was understandably frightened, but we were able to safely secure it in a harness and get it back to solid ground.

Driver/Engineer Neilsen even shared a brief, calming moment with the deer as he helped bring it to shore.

As soon as it hit land, the deer found its strength and took off back into the wild.

A big thank you to our friends at CPW for the call and partnership. Teamwork made this rescue possible, and we're grateful for the chance to help one of Colorado's wild residents get a second chance.
