I remember watching the Woodright's shop on PBS right before the New Yankee Workshop.
Roy Underhill vs Norm Abrams.
Spokeshaves vs spindle sanders.
As much as I can appreciate the craftsmanship and skill and talent, I have no patience for old school woodworking, and I'm pretty sure that those old craftsman went through a pretty intense apprenticeship.
(Watch a few Mr Chickadee episodes if you want to see someone who won't be worried if he has to spend the rest of his life in the forest without electricity, but still wants to live well.)
