I'm sure that there may be pencil gauges that are as accurate as I want, but I've never had one.

I converted to a dial to have better resolution to enable me to be consistent. I set my tires to the same pressure side to side and do my best to keep them there. My TPMS has always been pretty accurate too. The battery in my front left finally died, so my next set of tires will require new TPMS. Hopefully, my next set works as well (which are at least 12 years old).
