Well, my 2014 F150 finally beat me, by not being able to swap out the cylinder head temperature on the back of the cylinder head.
Tuesday, I was on a conference call in the parking lot of Ferguson’s, to pick up material. After about 20 minutes, smoke started a billing up from the front end. I turned off the engine, I wasn’t sure if it was a fire or steam. I open the door and smelled the sweet smell of coolant.
I think my cylinder temperature sensor is bad, because after filling the cooling reservoir tank, the gauge was going up and down. I used my OBD to phone app and I could see the temperature going from 190 down to 138 and back. Very erratic.
I watched multiple videos, and the guys seemed to have plenty of room to put their hands between the firewall and the cylinder head. I don’t think I have big hands, but I could not swap out the sensor. I got as far as getting the connector off, and that was it.
Going through the top, you’re supposed to pull the intake manifold. Others went through the right side after moving the inner fender liner. I removed the liner, and the only way I could get my hand in there, was to face the back of a truck and use my right hand to get back there.
To make matters worse, I broke the connector for the crank position sensor. I guess the heat had gotten into it and it broke. Now my truck doesn’t start.
Now, I’ve got an appointment to take it to a shop that works on a lot of trucks and has done all my tire mounting and alignment
