Stories like this make me miss the days of Bell Labs before they were broken up. I sometimes wonder life would be like if all the brilliant minds needed for digital telecommunication were still kept under one roof.
There are still brilliant minds doing amazing thhings in America and around the world, but how many times does a lack of communication slow the whole chain of events down because there wasn't someone in the room to say "Remember, if you move your server farm 500 miles away, you're going to need to adjust for the time differential"
