Model car fixin'

I wasn't sure which thread these pictures should go in; the "What are you fixing? or the "Model car" one. So I split the difference and started a new thread.
Anyway...

During the move, some of my stuff got broken by the folks "helping" me. This weekend I finally got off the sofa and started fixing some of it.

A few years ago a friend made a diorama for me, based on some photos of the grocery store my parents owned when I was born. It was one of the moving casualties.

We lived in a tiny village in southern Ohio and this - my parent's store - was the local grocery store. I think I posted a piece here some time ago about how my folks ran the business. Dad was a real hustler (in a good way) and a good provider.

This is me, one year old, sitting on Dad's '37 Ford panel truck that he used to deliver eggs. I was already an old truck enthusiast!
You can tell you are in deep Appalachia when the local "supermarket" has concrete blocks for steps to the front door.

This is the diorama he made for me, complete with a model of the truck. All the exterior signage was gone off of the building, the roof was knocked off, and one window ledge was missing. The truck got pretty banged up in the move, too. I had to re-attach the wheel, make a new license plate, and re-glue the bumper. One of the headlights got knocked off and it's nowhere to be found. I'm not sure where I'll find a replacement.

I made signs and a license plate in Photoshop and had copies printed at Walgreens.

Dang. I didn't notice that the sign on the front of the building slipped down on one side until I saw this picture. I'll have to peel it off and put up another one. Good thing I printed extras.

I tried to recreate the second picture. All that's missing is the grubby little kid - and the headlight.
