My wife is a retired dental assistant. We use one daily and it has helped reduce my gum "pockets" quite a bit. Highly recommend. I use regular floss periodically still, but mostly the water pik. We also use a Sonicare toothbrush.

I will add that using these devices has greatly reduced the amount of work the dental hygienist has to do to get plaque off of my teeth when cleaning. To me that is a big bonus.
