Also let us remember that this was largely an NHL match. I too am tired of the 1980 comparison. That team was college kids playing against the Soviet ARMY. No comparison.

Right on to that, all of the above. I was a student at the University of Minnesota in 1980, my cousin played JV hockey at the U. Any other school, he would have been a starter. Over half the Olympic team, plus the coach, (Herb Brooks), were from the U of M. It was like our college hockey team, (with a few ringers from Boston), beat the world. Truly a miracle on ice…you can’t imagine the emotions at my school. Take what everyone else in the country was feeling, (total elation), and double it.
No matter what else happens in life, no one can take away these joyful moments.
