This was posted on my local wine and gravel site. It represents the perfect fit of what I want in a group ride- Go out- dog it. Go out easy. Go out and just do it as a first ride. Go out and cut it short. All end up at the same endpoint and hang out together afterwards.
"Joy Equity
joy equity ˈjȯi eq·ui·ty ˈe-kwə-tē
1
a: Equal opportunity at joy in riding. Every rider enjoying themselves while riding at their own pace. Joy equity is not realized by helping people ride the same pace, but by creating the circumstances that allow all riders an equal opportunity to enjoy the ride.
Mindful of joy equity, she did not feel the need to keep up with the riders ahead of her, nor expect them to wait for her.
b: A feeling of happiness resulting from doing your own thing. Knowing that you are free and welcomed to ride the pace you want and feel great about doing it. AGW rides do not have a pace expectation, nor an expectation that we all ride the same pace.
That **** was a blast, what joy!
c: The experience or expression of such emotion in knowing that your fellow riders are enjoying themselves.
Seeing you happy on your bike gives me such joy."
Now, THAT is what it (imho) is all about. Since I haven't ridden in a month due to weather, I enter into humbly.
