Usually done with the depth adjustment and that is supposed to be enough. Maybe you might have a little trouble due to varying thickness. I might choose slightly more carefully where you place the nails.
Then again it might not make any difference. What else can you do really? If you under drive several you just finish them off with your hammer. I've had uniform wood siding take nails differently on the same board because of what was behind it. I just went back and set any nails that were proud with a hammer.
