Dealerships that don't care for their customers. I was at the small independent shop where we have bought most of our vehicles in the past 4 decades and asked about a container of Audi Transfer Fluid on the shelf. Craig, the service/parts guy explained they had a customer come in with his Audi, which had less than 100,000 km, looking for help. His car was acting like the differential was locked when cornering. The Dealership in the city wanted over 10k to replace the differential. One of the mechanics in our local shop did some online research and found an Audi service bulletin describing the problem as stemming from build up on the center differential clutch plates and outlining the procedure for flushing the diff with the fluid under precise conditions. This restores the function of the center differential for around $300.
Since that first incident word has got out about our local guy and the easy fix, so he keeps the specific fluid in stock.
