Summer of 1969 with the Moon landing, Vietnam War, Woodstock, and Charlie Manson going on in the background ... This was my brand new Schwinn Collegiate 5-speed bought with my paper route money. First lightweight bike. Within 2-3 years, I upgraded to a Schwinn Continental 10-speed with drop bars, a few homebuilt road bikes using various frames and parts and then a Schwinn Paramount in 1975.
