Back 27 years ago the worlds first tornado emergency was issued from the national weather service in Norman, OK. A F5 tornado hit Moore, OK with the highest wind speed ever recorded of 321 MPH. It stripped houses off the concrete foundations and left nothing but the slab. Over May 3rd and 4th Oklahoma had 72 tornadoes. 36 fatalities in the F5 tornado, many at a school. New laws were enacted to make every school have a tornado shelter.

We watched it all on TV for hours. The local TV stations all go to "wall to wall" coverage with nothing but storm coverage, no commercials. One local TV station KWTV has the largest team of storm chasers in the country, and two helicopters, and a million watt dual pole radar system that can see debris in the air, and even bats leaving a cave.
