Is it too late to suggest only going out to eat with people that pick up the entire tab?
Asian friend of mine has this habit.
We have to give a card to the waiter before we sit down - let alone start ordering - to circumvent it, and he’s gotten into the habit of prepaying when he books to get ahead.
Which is why we don’t let him pick places…
All joking aside - that’s far less stressful than this whole separate check deal.
