Window air conditioner repair?

My window air conditioner has slow slowly gotten warmer, to the point it’s not putting out cold air.

I opened it up and the evaporator and condenser fins are clean. Although the backside of the evaporator looks very corroded.

The compressor runs and I see the copper is frosted just before the evaporator.

There are no ports to add refrigerant, but looking online, there’s what’s called a bullet tap. With the frosted copper, I’m thinking it’s low on refrigerant.

The bullet tap and R32 refrigerant would be about $125 to top off the system. A new window air conditioner is $490*.

* The neighborhood HOA doesn’t allow standard window air conditioners.

I like this window unit, because I can close the doors to the owners bedroom, to keep it colder than the rest of the house at night.

So what do you think, take a chance on repairing it for $125 or bite the bullet and buy a new one for $490?
