Venting of frustration
So I just got back from a run to a local furniture warehouse where they accept good quality furniture and give it to people who can use it. My neighbor had a brand new, flawless condition king sized mattress and box spring set. To me, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to take something nice, but un-needed and reuse it. An elegant solution, as it were.
To begin the story, I check the website of a local place that repurposes furniture to people who are in need. The #1 item that they say they want: mattresses!
So I load up the truck carefully and thoughtfully, and drive over.
The sign in front of the drop off? It says items they want. #1 on top - you guessed it - mattresses!
And? They tell me they won't take it. They said they have too many.
They handed me a sheet with the address of somewhere I could dispose it.
I countered that it was item #1 on their website, and that there were zero constraints other than "good condition." And that this set is flawless.
They hemmed and hawwed. They gave the mattress a microscopic level inspection. And took it begrudgingly.
I considered writing a nasty review on Google. But, they are a struggling non-profit. They are trying, just doing a poor job of it.
So instead, I vent here. And, I really don't plan on giving them anything again. It was aggravating. Thanks for reading.
