On the flip side I buy my oil filters for the 986S/996C4 from LN Engineering. They place a warning sticker on top of the box that says " do not prefill with oil " . My 3.6/3.8 engines were built by FSI . Jake Raby specifically told me to not prefill .

When I do an oil change on both engines when I go to start I crank just enough for the engine to " catch " and turn the key off . Four to five cycles and then start the engine . I have been driving for 53 years with a large variety of cars and trucks . Air cooled and water cooled . I have never prefilled an oil filter .

I have a lot of respect for Lake Speed Jr , to say he understands oil is an understatement . Have I been changing oil wrong for 53 years ? Maybe and maybe not . For my Porsche's I follow what Jake says because he built them . So far knock on wood I have never lost an engine .
