Carson... the tach jumps ever so slightly...... even with no reference signal. THe cars vibration was enough to get it to move while cranking.
It will crank at 200rpm so it should in theory just barely jump. I wouldnt say its a definitive way to diagnoze a no start....but some cars may be more sensitive to it.
