Laminate (Pergo, et al) is slippery and dangerously so when wet. LVT is not slippery.
30 years ago when Pergo was all the rage I refused to install it on stairs, it was a liability. I stopped selling it altogether as ponding water like potted plants, dog bowl, plumbing leak or whatever caused a big problem (the core material is not waterproof).
