Agree. No way to know and yes some discretion and restraint could have made a big difference. Whatever the situation, I'd not consider it to be a ringing endorsement of "Muscle Cars by Bob". The chassis selections by Detroit Speed in particular are about as good as a factory frame-based car gets but there is still too much happening. I find these early car versions to be better done if big flares are the order of the day. SEMA be damned.

Ripping a bunch of the bodywork off in favor of stock body front and rear (for the most part) and painting it, might come out a LOT cheaper than starting from scratch.
Then there's the crowd that likes to take a '55 style body and fit it over a C2 or newer chassis. The one guy that I know that did this ended up buying new front and rear frame clips to achieve his dream. He also sold shortly after it was finished.
Maybe you're right, they ended up saying, "What have I done?"
