I think two pieces of info that are useful for parents / grandparents of disabled children.
1) Check out getting a ABLE account.
2) Consider a Special Needs Trust
I would never do the Conservatorship, but a Special Needs Trust accomplishes the goals of a Conservatorship with, hopefully, less conflict and maybe less cost.
