mostly 130kph in France
Anyway, the Cayman
Within 10 secs noticed that the bonnet looked like it had been shot with a shotgun with rock salt
Never seen that much road rash, small specs in the primer and black specs on the clear
I suspected track use when I saw that.
142000 km he says pretty normal
NO its not, mine had 3 specs at 176000 km
my bumper had a bit more scrapes but bonnet was very clean
Then he started up and got some metallic noise in the back , couldn't place it, sounded exhaust ish.. he said just lifers from not running much (despite he had told me it gets started 2/3 times a week)
CDR volume buttons were sticky, typical issue
Then I notice the headliner completely loose, not just a bit, but left to right front to back, it drooped like an inverted bubble in between driver and pax
Now I looked at the ad, I can see some hints of it that I missed.. but They clearly took the pictures whilst either they pinned it up or somebody outside of the picture held the headliner tight.
We gonna fix that before delivery
I was already disgusted, did drive it, the noise cleared up after idle dropped from warmup, it pulled ok, braked straight, but there is no way i'm gonna buy it with that bonnet and headliner, even if he claims headliner gets fixed
I had LITERALLY asked him : What are the issues I might notice in person ,that I can't see in the advertisment pictures?
he had said only the repair in 2012 , didn't mention rash or headliner at all.
IF he had, I'de not driven 1000 km all day, fuel cost day off work tolls.. I'de not have bothered.
Then in the office he was gonna make me an offer, knowing i do my own maint he mentioned taking some off the price and minus some warranty since I don't live in france and suggested I don't really care bout warranty (legal warranty isn't worth much, if you kaboom the engine they say you didn't maintain it or tracked it.. if its a minor issue, I'm not gonna drive 1000 km for something I can fix myself cheaper)
I kept yapping porsche small talk.. along the way he mentions, the po is a guy like you he tracked it a lot.
NO **** SHERLOCK
And he thinks thats a selling point??
By the end of his story, it was 38500 grand with commercial warranty tacked on (there already is mandatory legal warranty and he didn't take a penny off the base price)
Its a 30 grand car at the very best. even if he fixes the headliner..
Am pretty pissed
