I was doing a three hour drive back from Indiana late at night. Flat corn fields with an off-ramp every 10-20 miles or so. Both sides of the highway almost perfectly clear like I was the only car on the road that beautiful evening. I'm in the left lane and decide to change to the right just because a trooper might zip through plus it's the law.
I look over out of habit and there are headlights in my blind spot. Braked hard.

He must has merged with his lights off in a dark area, because that completely went un-noticed.
