I think my mom used to make chicken salad (sans pasta, I think) when I was a kid. At least, I remember having it when I was a kid. I was far more likely to have tuna salad. My mom made that a fair amount (when dad wasn't home, because he hated the smell).
The only chicken salad that I remember having as an adult has either come from Whole Foods or a restaurant that the wife and I occasionally go to. I don't think any of it has pasta.
But, if you can get past the no-pasta bit, then I heartily recommend curry chicken salad! So yummy.
They also make something called "Sonoma chicken salad" that has pecans and grapes in it, that's very tasty.
And one that they used to have but seems to be gone since Amazon took over is "blackened chicken salad" (basically, spicy chicken salad) which was one of my favorites.
