That's reasonable but with no ABS and guessing you were driving the El Camino, you ought to always be in the right lane as a courtesy to everyone else with modern cars with modern brakes and suspensions.
I see young kids all the time that have no idea how to drive on the highway doing 65 in the lefthand lane, having no self-awareness of drivers around them, it's like they all drive high just tooling along no matter the traffic around them.
