My parents took me to see blade runner in the theater. I was just starting 7th grade and it was amazing and seriously the best thing I’d even seen. But right after Zohra was killed my mom decided that was enough. They asked if I wanted to go and I didn’t… well too bad and I got yanked from the movie.
Some movies hit so hard when you’re young. I just thought the look and feel and music was so cool at the time but didn’t realize how amazing it was until I was a lot older and seen so much garbage.
I didn’t get to see where the movie was going. I think what hit hardest was the look and feel - all the concentrated wealth corporate power enabled by politics and a population that’s lost hope.
To this day I can’t believe the movie was made - what a beautiful labor of love!
