I am a professional, I use a rubber “graphics eraser wheel” after the initial steam or heat gun and scrape removal of the film.
The rubber wheel chucked in a drill will slowly remove the adhesive mess and turn it into crumbs. Patience is key, if the rubber wheel gets overheated it creates more gummy mess. Have to do a section at a time.
I often work side to side on the stone guards in steps.
You can follow with mild adhesive remover if needed, or straight to hand or machine polishing.

It’s not a fun job… no easy shortcuts… just labor through it.
