There's 2 values, right (maybe 3)?
1) Retail price
2) wholesale (you selling to a dealer that will resale)
3) silver value (assuming they are silver)

1 and 2 are likely to be VERY different.

But what a coin shop can get for them for retail vs what you can get for them trying to sell yourself are probably also very different.

And then, of course, condition also makes a huge difference.

I would think the main factors affecting value are rarity (what coin, year, mint mark, etc...), condition, then possibly silver content (or gold).

There used to be books that you could buy that would give you avg values. I would expect some of that data to be available online, but probably not everything.
