I knew that MotoGP bikes were expensive but...
A MotoGP bike is essentially a hand-built computer on two wheels. According to team and manufacturer estimates, the individual components carry staggering price tags:
Engine: $400,000 to $500,000. These are 1,000cc prototype engines built by hand. Because they run at extreme limits, teams go through 7 to 10 engines per rider every season.
Electronics & Sensors: $250,000 to $300,000. This covers data systems, traction control, engine braking algorithms, and 2D dash panels. No single electronic sensor costs less than $1,000.
Chassis & Swingarm: $200,000. Custom-made from ultra-lightweight carbon fiber, titanium, and magnesium.
Suspension: $150,000. Highly specialized front forks and rear shocks that are completely stripped down and rebuilt by technicians after every single race.. The FIM caps the price of a standard front brake kit. It utilizes carbon fiber brake discs that cost up to $20,000 each because steel brakes would melt under MotoGP racing speeds.
Wheels: $8,800 to $13,200 per set. Forged magnesium rims designed to shed every ounce of unsprung weight.
