This thread is interesting. Makes me think.
I was 22 and a first year grad student. I was assigned to teach a class to pay for my tuition. The rules were almost none existent. I was super lenient. I told the class that I didn't care if they attended. If they did attend, I wanted them to be attentive. Shocker, it worked very well. I had super high attendance and participation. Given that I had zero experience, I needed it!
