There is a diode across the relay contacts on the red ones. These are used when the relay controls any type of inductive load, like a motor. Inductors don't like to turn off, and when they do, generate a spike of electricity in the opposite direction. The diode suppresses that spike by shorting it to ground instead of letting it arc and burn out the relay contacts.
