Reminds me of a certain RCMP (Mountie) Sargeant that I took hunter training from years ago. He was as religious about gun safety as he was about the right to "bear arms". I have never met a man sooo anal about the safe handling of firearms.

He did the same thing to himself - except even more of a challenge - he shot himself in the leg with a long gun somehow. At least he had the courtesy to do it in the privacy of his hotel room during an overnight on a school-to-school "lecture tour" on safe gun handling.

Setting irony aside - it seems these kinds of incidents only reinforce the unavoidable risks associated with firearms.
