1fast - not to disagree or anything but from 1999.5 to 2003 all TDI's in the US where 1.9 liter 90 hp 155 ft lbs.

Starting in 2004 the Jetta/Golf/NB got 100 hp 170 ft lbs (guessing on torque number) 1.9 unit injector engines.

The Passat TDI gets a 2.0 liter unit injector engine with 134 hp and some where around 200 - 210 ft lbs of torque.

You can chip your TDI for ~$325 and get about 120 hp and around 210 to 220 ft lbs of torque and actually increase your fuel economy


I drive a 2000 Jetta TDI and lifetime MPG has been 51 mpg (115K miles) and I have been chipped since 20K miles
