Just to throw in with the whole no street racing thing. I was driving on route 10 from el paso, TX to las cruces, NM at 3 in the morning. I highly doubt there is all that much risk in doing so on a deserted highway at 3 in the morning except maybe to myself (the idiot did swerve while shifting which makes me think that he must not be used to torque steer).
The sources that i've read, tdiclub.com, say that after chipping a 90 hp motor you'll yield 115hp and 195 lbs/ft of torque. Sorry i screwed up with the tdi hp years. And this wasn't a real street racing story, this was comedy to take the boredom out of driving on a long flat highway in the middle of the night. Plus it felt good considering how often people tell me that my over priced, over weight german car (the 911) will be demolished by any of the japenese automobile arsenal. While that may be true for some instances, i don't think people have been giving any credit to european vehicles lately. If you want to hear about a street race, then i can open up the stories when i used to own a red 951.
Just to emphasize this, the only life i've ever risked while behind the wheel so far has been my own. Everyone is a kid at heart, and at some point while being a kid has done a little street racing. If you want to talk about risk, you should see how many people run the stop sign next to my house doing about 40mph

.
BTW, i read today that the lotus elise goes on sale for the 2005 year at 40k dollars. 1975lbs, 190hp toyota 1.8L 4 cylinder. Any opinions?
