Just a bit of a question here to gauge the interest level from other drivers... in short, I've seen plenty of cases of track events happening too far away to drive, and it always leaves a case of needing a rental car. Which often means whatever Hertz/Alamo/Avis/etc has, or playing out the money for an actual race car rental (or something exotic if that is available in the area).
So, with that said, if you had the option to rent something short of a full race car, but better suited than the V6 Mustang, would you be interested? If yes, what kind of safety features would you want so see (again, not for racing, but with DE/Open Tracks in mind)? And if such a rental was available in the SF Bay Area (Laguna Seca, Sear's, or even Thunder Hill), do you think you might use it? And what would you consider a fair rental price?
And lol if you're still reading, maybe comments on a few more specific possibilities? The good ol' basic Miata (with some kind of rollover protection added); 2.5L Boxster (Possibly tiptronic); Porsche 944; BMW E36 M3?
This is just something that I've been mulling over with someone in conjunction with another possibile business opertunity and just wondering if there would be enough interest from the driving community to justify a small number of cars for something like this.
