My 74 2.7 S isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It has an 11 blade fan and hi perf exhaust stock [no thermal reactors], and of course has been upgraded to Carrera tensioners. It still handles well. It looks good. It weighs about 2500lbs, and I can't say that about a 996 Turbo.
