Actually, you are both wrong, (sort of), or maybe I wasn't clear in my language. What I meant to say was that whatever we might have done to a captured VC or Nazi, however justified it might have seemed in the moment due to battle stress/torture recieved by us/etc.., only accomplishes the necessary link in the never-ending chain of human rights abuses. Unless we break the chain by treating prisoners better, w/o waiting for the other side to behave better.
My fear would be for myself and my comrades if I was a soldier or Marine in Iraq right now, wouldn't want to be the next U.S. POW right now. That is why heads need to roll now, this stupid ***** needs to be kiboshed, big-time.
