A dangerous woman
I was driving down the very scenic Huron River drive this weekend, at a time when the bicyclist are out in full force hogging the sides of the road and also the cops set up their speed traps about then.
I enter the drive taking a posted 20 mph curve at 40 mph and in safety because there was no one around that curve. As I come up to cop hideout number one, I slow down to 35 mph then I notice this young woman starting to tail gating me on the straight away (she pulled out behind me near the dam). She leaves about two feet between us for several hundred feet, I know she wants to pass, but it’s a no passing zone- hey it’s a scenic drive. It takes no great skills to drive 50 mph on the scenic dive of 35 mph even in her Honda Civic (I do over 90 mph when it’s safe to). I don’t worry about what speed she wants to do, there are two more cop hiding places 150 feet and 250 feet ahead.
You guessed it, she passes me. I was doing 35 mph, she must have brought her car up to 55 mph in doing so.
So what’s to get upset about?
Well she almost killed ten people that’s all. Right at cop hide out number three, where there is the Maple bridge. At the edge of the road six older people (white hair everywhere) are on one side deciding to cross and waving on to their four friends already on the other side of the road. Some have already decided to cross when the crazy girl with a ponytail taking up both sides of the road comes barreling down on them at 55 or 60 mph.
There is a big difference between driving fast, and driving dangerously – the line was crossed that day. Where’s a cop when you need one?
