It's not about protecting the public from themselves, that's for sure.
Once I was almost run off the highway by a drunk tailgating me. I tried to get ahead and hide in front of a big truck (worked once before about ten years earlier- similar situation), slowing down was not working. I got nailed for speeding. I mean why else would you be doing 80 in your wife's Geo Metro?
The cop lied in court and said there were no other cars around.
The magistrate/judge said there was no good reason for ever speeding (he must live on Mars).
I asked; not even to save my own life? He said there are no exceptions including for passing or running for your life.
I choose life!!!!!!!!
