Weber Fuel Pump Plumbing?

Hey guys,

I have a 83' 3.0 with Webers installed by P.O. The fuel pump is very noisy. I believe it is the stock pump. I did some research and apparently there are a variety of ways to plumb fuel to the Webers.

Currently I have the a 4 port fitting in the engine bay. It has fuel inlet, return, lines for the carbs and a 0-15 psi pressure guage. The return line has a clamp on it that is used to adjust the fuel pressure. The P.O. had it dialed into 10 psi. From what I have read this is way too high. Could this cause the fuel pump noise and/or damage to Webers? Currently, it runs great just noisy.

First order of business is to reduce to 3.5 psi.

Is a noisy stock pump an indication of forthcoming failure?

What is the preferred method of plumbing Webers?
