I just got an inquiry from Nevada DMV about my '80SC.
For the 4 years I have had it, it is listed as a 1980 Carrera.
Because that's what it says on the hood. Nowhere on my registration / title does it say Porsche. This from the 'technical inspection' conducted at the DMV when I brought the car in from Texas.
What was the inquiry about? I was asked if I was going to request the tax credit for an 'alternate fuels car'. Based on my 'technical inspection', the 'inspector' looked under the front hood, and didn't see an engine. He never looked under the rear hood. He put me down in his database as an electric vehicle.
The person I spoke with at DMV headquarters in Carson City was laughing so hard he couldn't speak.
To this day I have a 1980 Carrera according to the State of Nevada.
