Sadly, according to reports from teachers, the typical homeschooled child is one whose parents don't give a poop, and who has figured out a way to legally not attend school.

Disagree. Every homeschooled child I know (and that is quite a few) are very socialized. They spend their time with other children often as well as adults and it shows in their mannerisms, speech and conduct which are all advanced for their ages.
Anyway, the last thing I want is my kid to be socialized by nightmarish kids who cuss, are disrespectful, want to wear sex bracelets at age 12, do drugs, hate America etc.
I care so much that I don't want my kid in a government school. Period. If I didn't care, that is exactly where I would send them. My wife and I are both educated and she is staying home instead of working to teach. I will teach additional subjects which means more work for me. Too bad for me...I guess I can't waste time watching American Idol or some other useless show. I woudn't have it any other way.
