"It appeared all of the sudden in the major news media yesterday, AL Queada would have sleeper cells in the USA, and intends to launch major devastating attacks this summer. So, here is what I make of it:
#1- If it is true, it clearly demonstates that the war on terror did not work, and that the focus should have been inside the USA, rather than in the middle east.
#2- If it is untrue, it shows how the Bush administration is desperate and tries to use scare tactics in order to make the good people feel that only Bush can save them."
---------------------------
According to some of the news coming out today, this is pure #2.
They say there's 'no elevated chatter;' no change in volume of communication. This is beginning to look li8ke another Axhcroft attempt to draw focus away from Bush'e problems.
Last time he tried it, some Chicago street punk made a comment about a 'dirty bomb' that Ashcroft blew up into a full-fledged threat. Ashcroft was later chastised for it, but at the time, he thought the Enron scandal was getting a little too close for comfort.
Responsible parties in the administration have not changed the "threat level" so this looks like just another Ashcroft fantasy scenario.
