I'm not sure what to make of the second paragraph. In the old days, folks lived in areas defined by common languages and trades. Now, I think we are segregated more by incomes; since neighborhoods are more ethnically diverse with income being the common factor.
I still think we're a melting pot based on my own experience. It just strikes me as a bold statement by the author.
Beyond OT to pointless maybe, but do ya really want another picture of my dog?
