Heard John Dean tonight
Went to a lecture tonight that featured John Dean and his latest book, "Worse than Watergate" - for you younger guys, Dean was former Council to President Nixon who eventually exposed Nixon's role in the coverup. He sure had a lot of damning things to say about the current administration. He's been around a lot and experienced much in his political career. Dean is no flaming liberal, but I think a thoughtful man who sees a disturbing view of the way the administration is operating - even comparing GW with Nixon in their view of their role in the world.
I was amazed to hear his account of his research into who Deep Throat is/was (the person leaking Watergate info to Bernstein/Woodward). Probably old news by now, but he deconstructed a 900 page manuscript from Bernstein/Woodward's "All the President's Men", laid out a time line of Deep Throat's leaks with events occuring at that time, then cross-referenced those leaks/events with a list of potential "throats" and their relationship to those events. Talk about tenacious. Does this guy have a life?
Haven't read his book yet, but will.
Dessenters?
