I agree that investing in cars is money poorly spent. My concern is not about my return on investment. Instead, it's what happens to the hobby when investors and speculators get in.

What I usually see happen when some new thing catches on is that the enthusiasts who have built up the marque's reputation and knowledge base soon become priced out of the market. The new collectors instead wear the cars like jewelry or some other fashion item. Inevitably, the speculators move on and the hobby I think suffers because many enthusiasts never return.

I'm not debating the free market system. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with the early car market. Is it that early cars are finally getting the recognition that they have long deserved in relation to Dinos and XKE's or is this a bubble that is likely to burst?
