I think you missed the point entirely. In fact, I'm sure you did and I'm sure everyone else thinks you did. Paul's remark was not in any way a derogatory one. If anything, it was self-effacing humor, which you totally failed to recognize. You really ought to put up an apology.
On your views: There are many factors, which could cause the 911S's values to decline. Just about all of them are beyond our control. The prices of collector cars shot up dramatically in the 80's only to fall back considerably in the recession. I doubt if the price of gas is one of the governing factors.
